Make the Journey to Recovery
Drug and Alcohol Rehab for Railroad Employees
Drugs and trains can make for a deadly combination.
In 2016, The Washington Post reported that almost 8 percent of workers involved in rail accidents tested positive for drug use, an increase three times greater than the previous 10 years. Drug and alcohol consumption among the general population has increased sharply since that report; the likelihood that substance use has also increased among railroad workers is high.
Addiction and alcoholism affect people in all vocations, but can be catastrophic when a 200-ton locomotive is involved. As a result, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and company Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) throughout the industry hold railroad workers to high safety standards. To meet these standards, employees with a drug or alcohol problem need substance abuse treatment tailored for the requirements of these safety-sensitive positions.
At Bradford, it all changes here.
Why Us?
At Bradford, we recognize that a career in the railroad industry is as much a part of your identity as it is a paycheck. Your work is essential but often misunderstood or unappreciated, with demands and pressures of that job can sometimes lead to unhealthy outlets, like alcohol and drugs.
A substance use disorder doesn’t have to be the end of your career. Here, as part of our Railroad Program, you’ll find an understanding community of peers and professionals that work diligently and tirelessly to get you back on your feet and back on the tracks as quickly as possible.
